AKOMA is a word from the Twi language spoken by the Ashanti people of Ghana, West Africa. The definition of AKOMA is "the heart". AKOMA represents love, unity, endurance, patience, tolerance, goodwill, and faithfulness. AKOMA is the official ambassador of Amiga Negra. AKOMA embodies the interconnected essence of what our brand stand for. AKOMA's hair, eyes, and lips were actually created from several ADINKRA symbols designed in house by our Creative Director. Adinkra are visual symbols, originally created by the Akan of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa that represent concepts or original thoughts.
